Obituary for Anita-Dawn Michelle Upshaw-McFarlan  "The spirit of man is the candle of the Lord" Prov. 20:27a

On July 21, 2009, a precious candle was lit in Pittsburgh, PA when Anita-Dawn Michelle Upshaw-McFarland was born. She was raised in Aliquippa, PA by her parents Sammie Sr. and Tonji Cooper. On February 18, 2024, the fire was quenched, but the fragrance of her candle still lingers.

Anita attended Baden Academy and was a Ninth-grade student at the Lincoln Park
Performing Arts Center in Midland, PA.

Anita was involved in numerous activities. From the age of three to age ten she attended the Rhythm N Motion Dance Studio and participated in various recitals.  Anita discovered her gift and talent for Volleyball in the Seventh grade and played
through the Ninth grade. She earned a spot on the regional S. K. Y. Elite Travel Volleyball Team in December 2023. She was happily employed by Wendy's and enjoyed getting paid.

Anita was a member of Greater Miracle Ministries where she sang in the Youth Choir, was a Server at Dining Events, Ushered, and worked with the Media Team.  Anita accepted Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized in April 2023. She was also a member of the I Am Whole mentor Program.

Anita was preceded in death by her grandfather, Elder Sims Good Sr.

In addition to her parents Sammie Sr. and Tonji Cooper, Anita leaves to mourn her loss and cherish her memory, Siblings: Sammie Cooper Jr. (Ruth), Ambridge, LaTonya Cooper (Darryl), Aliquippa, Nicole Smith (Kevin) Pittsburgh, Denise Pratt, Texas and Jacob Brown, Pittsburgh. Grandmothers: Mother Annie Mae Good, Aliquippa and Vera Brown, Georgia; the Upshaw and McFarland families, with Special Thanks to Savanna McFarland and Amos Upshaw for giving such a beautiful gift and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
