Bennie C. Askew, Sr, peacefully departed this life at home with his loved ones by his side on April 20, 2020. Bennie was born in Gaffney, SC to the Late Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Askew (Ola MaeDavidson) on August 14, 1934. He is survived by his wife Gloria Askew (MacFarland) and is preceded in death by his brothers Aaron Askew, Gaffney, SC; Plato Askew (Ruby), Gaffney, SC; Jerome Askew (Ida), Fayetteville, NC. He is survived by his brother David Askew, Sr. (Deborah) of Aliquippa, PA.

Bennie migrated to Aliquippa, PA in 1956, where he was employed as a Subforeman by Jones and Laughlin Steel Mill for more than 30 years. He was an active member in his community and of The Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as Chairman of the Deacon Board, Treasurer, and longtime member of the Bethel Male Chorus. He was also an active member of the St. Marks Masonic Lodge of Aliquippa, where he held the 33 rd and highest Masonic Degree. He was an honorary member of Valley Baptist Church under the direction of Reverend T.J. Harrison in Farrell, PA. Bennie deeply enjoyed playing on the Saturday Night Mix Bowling League.

Many Beautiful memories will be deeply cherished by his family and friends. Bennie is survived by six children Sandra (Stanton Greenwood), Pittsburgh, PA, Brenda (Edward Coleman, Sr), Patterson Township, PA, Belinda (Donald Howe), Burlington, NJ, Janice (Jovette Askew-Pino), Concord, NC, Benny, Jr (Patricia Askew), Falmouth, MA and Anthony, Lindenwold, NJ.

Bennie leaves behind eight grandchildren and three great grand-children including Jason Stewart, Tiffany Howe, Edward Coleman, Jr, Brittany Coleman, Justin Howe, DrewSara Kendall, Catherine and Caleb Askew. Great-grand-children Teagan and Ryan Stewart, Lauren Kendall and one brother-in-law Jessie McFarland Jr., Tallahassee, FL and Godfather Reverened Richard Roberts.
