Carolyn Browder, 79, of Hopewell Twp. Pennsylvania went home to be with the Lord on April 1, 2026.

She was born April 22nd, 1946, to the late Frank and Catherine Sessoms.

Carolyn graduated from Aliquippa High School, Data Consultants Computer Centers INC., and Remington College.

She worked various jobs throughout her life which included a Nursing Assistant at Suburban General Hospital, a bartender at the Quippian Club, an Administrative Assistant at the New Pittsburgh Courieras well as Saint Paul Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC. She was also a mail clerk at the U.S. Postal Service in Cleveland after which she retired.

Carolyn was lively, energetic, outgoing, funny, loving, kindhearted with a giving spirit and very organized. She developed a strong prayer life and close relationship with her lord and savior Jesus Christ of whom she shared with friends, neighbors and even strangers. She served her community as a volunteer for the Foster Grandparent's Program and worked as an Election Poll Worker where she eventually was elected Judge of Elections in 2021 and 2025 in Hopewell Township precinct 6. She enjoyed music, playing the piano, dancing, hanging out with friends and taking trips to the casino. She was an avid Steelers fan, raising her children to follow suit. She was also known for her delicious chocolate chip cookies, pies and cakes.

She loved her family and often told everyone she was proud of all her children. She had a special bond with her grandchildren, and great grandchildren whoaffectionally called her "GG" and "Grandma Toot". She had a knack for teaching children powerful lessons about life, education, and discipline, and not making excuses when faced with struggles; even sharing her battles she overcame. One memorable story was of "The Brown- Bag Brigade", where she helped form a boycott of the high school cafeteria to bring awareness to inequality and the lack of black cheerleaders, majorettes, and cafeteria workers. This boycott waslater noted in a book titled "Playing Through theWhistle: Steel, Football, and an American Town", by S. L. Price.

In addition to her parents, Carolyn is preceded in death by her Grandparents Gene and Mollie Pierce Williams, a sister Addie Sessoms-Harvey, Brothers; Dr. Frank Sessoms, Dennis Sessoms, Anthony Sessoms and Retired Judge Furmin Sessoms.

She is survived by her children, Jacqueline Williams, Carletta Sligh, Sonya Polk, and Charles Browder Jr. (Jaimie).

Brothers Vincent Sessoms (Cynthia), Norphas Sessoms, Dwight Sessoms, sisters Gloria S. Davis, and Mary Catherine Sessoms, Sister in Laws: Sandy Sessoms and Sharon Sessoms and a special brother Franklin Jackson.

Grandchildren, Chris (Bree), Quashon, Shauntel, Shanaya, Josiah, Kyle, Seyona, Charles III, Camdon, and Jaydon.

Great Grandchildren, Broc, Jovi, Jayla, Kashis, Princeton, Tristin, Aaliah, Zara, Sariyah, Rilee, Zyla,Eliana Maria and honorary grand Tarion.

Devoted friends: Cousin Linda Oxendine-Brand, Mattie McCoy, Doris Hightower, Gloria Davis, Belinda Walker, Gerldine Herring, Mamie Kimbrew, DianeCunningham, Brandiese Farley, and friends at Kuhns grocery store.

The family would like to thank the staff at both theHillman Cancer Center and UPMC Shadyside. The children are especially grateful for the cloud of family and friends for your prayers, visits, assistance, calls, FaceTime, cards and gifts, and for causing our mom to smile and to feel loved. A Special thanks to our Aunts and Uncles for always checking on our mom, checking on us, for providing great advice and even Uncle Norphas and Aunt Mary for being there right with us throughout the entire process.
