Chad Lenere Askew, 50, of Wheeling, WV (formerly of Aliquippa, PA) passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2026 surrounded by the people who loved him most. He was born on May 6, 1976 in Aliquippa, PA to Ms. Rosalyn (Askew) Johnson and the late David Askew, Jr. He was a devoted father, a loyal son, and a brother whose presence filled every room with humor, loyalty, and a big heart.

Above all else, he loved his children. They were the center of his world, and he took pride in every moment he spent with them. He shared a special bond with his mother and siblings as well, always finding comfort and strength in family.

Chad was a Class of 1994 graduate of Aliquippa Sr. High School and held several certifications in healthcare, including in Early Childhood and Peer Support specialties.

He was previously employed in the hospitality industry, later finding a passion for entrepreneurship in the landscaping and tree-trimming business. Most recently, he found fulfillment and purpose in the mental health field as a Peer Support Specialist.

Chad was an avid sportsman throughout his life who enjoyed wrestling and football. While he found joy and excitement (and some heartbreak) in his beloved Dallas Cowboys, he also found peace in fishing.

In addition to his father, Chad was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents (Robert and Shyrlee Moore), paternal grandfather (David Askew Sr.), aunts Vanessa Askew and Ann Sims, and uncles Christopher Askew, Abron Askew, and William Payne.

He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, siblings, Shanell Askew-Henry and David Askew, III (Aliquippa, PA), Wayne Walker (Aliquippa, PA) and Trashauna Spencer (Atlanta, GA), Marcus Spencer; children Delshawn and Darien Popowich, Jasmine, Chazmier, Jazmier, Takoma, Breezie, Halee, Chadsity, Chazlynn, Kabreya, Sade Askew-Meade, Chadia, and Javonni Gill; eighteen grandchildren and a host of welcomed additional children, godchildren, nieces and nephews whom he loved as his own; paternal grandmother, Deborah Askew; maternal aunts, Debbie Moreland and Cynthia (Sam) Willis and uncles, Howard (Mary) Payne, Robert Moore, Kevin Moore and Eric (Brenda) Moore; paternal aunt Amelia Fisher and uncle Arno (Robin) Askew; and Godmother, Mother Bonnie Littles-Reed. Because of Chad's warm heart, he truly met no strangers. Though he was considered a true friend to many, he was undeniably the best friend he could be to Edward Dean Worthy, George Horton, Curt Williams, Archie Adamson, Robert Roberson, Charlie White, Adam Baker and UncleJesse Smith, and special cousin, Solden "Boo" Moreland.
Chad will be remembered for his huge smile, big laugh, his love for his family, and the effort he made to change his life. His story is one of imperfections, courage, and deep love.
