It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Chad Edward Whitaker, who departed this world unexpectedly at his home on May 1, 2026. Born on April 25, 1983, in Beaver, Pennsylvania, Chad graced us with 43 years of light, laughter, and unwavering love.

Chad was a beacon of joy to his parents, Patricia (Michael) Gettings, and William (Clarice) Whitaker Sr., who survive him, cherishing every memory of their beloved son. His life was a testament to the cherished bonds of family, as he shared an unbreakable connection with his siblings and an expansive circle of friends who became like family to him. Chad is survived by his parents, several Brothers William Whitaker Jr. (Jessica), Shane Whitaker, Charles Whitaker, Terence Gettings (Alexa-Rae), Michael Lundy (Cherelle), and several sisters, Tiara Gaffney (Malik), Tonisha Gettings, and Alexis Hayes. Chad was proceeded in death by fraternal grandparents Lindsay and Vivian Whitaker, Uncles Danny Whitaker, Stanley Whitaker, and Orlander Carlos Gettings, and Brother Lindsay Thompkins. Chad leaves behind to cherish his memory a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Chad was a loving soul willing to help out anyone in need especially his family and friends.

From a young age, Chad's spirit was as vibrant as his smile, illuminating every room he entered. Growing up in Aliquippa and then Rochester, Pa, he embraced life with a sense of adventure and curiosity. He carried this zest for life into adulthood, impacting the hearts of everyone fortunate enough to know him. His laughter was infectious, and his kindness knew no bounds, serving as a testament to his character and the depth of his compassion. Chad graduated from Rochester Area High School in 2001 and helped lead the Rochester Rams football team to win two state championships. His love for football then led him to attend Bethany College on a football scholarship, receiving a bachelor's degree in Sociology.

In 2015, Chad married Erika Goosby and had two daughters, Anaya Whitaker and step daughter, Ashanti Jackson, he was a cherished husband, uncle, godfather, brother, cousin, friend, and mentor to many. His legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched, and the memories that will continue to bring comfort to those who knew and loved him.
