Charles Edward Gilbert. 89. Passed away on Wednesday, September 25 ^th in Florida.  He was born on July 18, 1930 in Aliquippa, PA to the late Amos and Jessie Chaney Gilbert.  He was employed at J&L Steel in Aliquippa for 33 years.  Charles was a Army Veteran and fought in the Korean War.   He was a faithful member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.  Whenever possible, Charles enjoyed visiting the sick and shut-in.  He always had candy and snacks for the neighborhood kids and was affectionately called the Candyman.  He also loved feeding the birds and other animals in the backyard.  He was famous for his walks down Franklin Avenue.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Sarah Ruth Pipkin

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving children; Brenda Thomas, Charles A. Gilbert and Joan Gilbert.
