Charles E. Hines Sr. 87, passed away March 18, 2024. He was born August 23, 1936. Charles was preceded in death by his mother, Minnie (Hines) Lester; father, Charles Cofield; grandchildren, James, Charles and Deja; brothers, Harry Hines, Honey Hines, Bill Cofield and Jerome Cofield; sisters, Elsie Thomson and Ann Cofield; aunts, Elizabeth Elliot, Mozetta Gilbert and Elizabeth (Libby) Johnson.

He worked at J.L Steel for 40 yrs. Charles was a father to many who will cherish his precious memory. With his first wife he had seven children: Charlene (Otis) Johnson, Ramona Hines, Sharon Hines, Charles Hines Jr., Jovonna Collins, Sonya Gonzalez, Yolanda Hines; and additional daughters, Marcella Walker-Bynum and Sherita Harris; sisters, Janet Johnson and Maxine Cofield.

Charlie, as he was affectionately known, had twenty-two grandchildren; thirty-five great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; best friends, Tim Green and Zoom and many other family and friends.

Charles was kind, caring and compassionate. He was a calm and quiet man who held fast to his beliefs and strong family values. You never saw him stirred up or angry. Most importantly, Charles was a praying man. He believed in God and was strong in faith. He was a great son, brother, uncle, father, grandfather, great grandfather, great-great grandfather, and cousin. There was nothing he would not do for his grandchildren and went above and beyond for all his family. He would tell fantastic stories that would have you laughing for days. Charles was an avid Aliquippa Quips fan, mostly basketball, and football. He would never miss a football game, no matter the weather.

His memory will live on forever in our hearts. We will miss him dearly.
