Daryl "DJ Big D" Bernard Young entered this world on July 16, 1973. Born to the late Charlie and Fannie Ruth Young.  Daryl was a ray of sunshine even as a baby. He was loved by many and had a heart of gold. On July 22, 2022, God picked a rose from His garden and brought Daryl home to be reunited with his parents and his brother Charlie Young, Jr. in his heavenly kingdom.

Daryl was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was educated in the Milwaukee School System. He attended Green Bay Avenue School, Bell Middle School and graduated from Christian Care Academy. Daryl had a love for people, especially the youth. He worked at a group home with at risk youth before he relocated from Milwaukee to California. In 2001 he moved from Compton, California to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and began working at Holy Family Institute. This job further validated his love for children and desire to help them grow into productive citizens. He later began working for Fayette Resources and prided himself on his work ethic and his love and respect for coworkers and clients.

When Daryl walked into any room you were greeted by his large stature and his even larger heart. It was only fitting that he would find his passion in entertaining by becoming a DJ. Before he would play any music, he would fill the room with his laughter and infectious charm. He was known as DJ Big D and would play for all types of celebratory events. The dance floor was never empty when he was on the ones and twos. His spirit filled the atmosphere, and he was a man of great passion and delight. His love for people, music, and the San Francisco 49'ers was unmatched.

Daryl met the love of his life Janaé over their love of music. She became the melody he always knew he was missing. Daryl knew she was his person when they first met. After just a few months of dating, he asked her to be his wife. Their marriage was full of beautiful melodies that they made together. From this union, he became the bonus dad of DáJere and Alexa. He took the title of "poppa" seriously. He was designed to be a family man and truly lived up to his role. Alexa, who he affectionately called muffin was the bright spot in his eye. They both enjoyed their sessions of dress up, makeovers and mini concerts. He and his baby girl always had a blast with one another. DáJere was his partner in so many ways. You could find them in a competitive game on the PS5 or talking about school and girls. Although he would never admit to it, hearing his son say "Pops, can you grab me some new J's" warmed his heart knowing that he still needed and trusted him to provide and care for him. The two of them made his life complete. He wouldn't allow anything to interfere with their Friday family fun nights of games and movies.

He was a man of honor and integrity which he passed on to his kids. He loved the Lord, and we find peace knowing that he is now using his DJ skills to entertain the God of his salvation.

He leaves to cherish his memories, wife, Dr. Janaé K. Young; bonus children, DáJere and Alexa; sister, Charlotte; brothers, Robert (Nelcita) and Keith; and a host of family and friends who will continue to live out his legacy of love and joy.
