David T. Askew Sr. was born August 14, 1932 in Gaffney, South Carolina to the late Mr. and Mrs. Aaron and Ola Mae Askew.  God called David to his eternal home on Thursday, December 30, 2020. David accepted Christ as his Savior early in life.  He was a long-time member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Aliquippa, PA where he served as a Deacon, Trustee, and Member of the Male Chorus.  He was instrumental in building the cornerstone for the church along with other maintenance duties.

David migrated to Aliquippa, PA in 1955 after serving in the U.S. Army.  David and his beloved wife Deborah became active citizens within the community while raising their 6 children.  David was employed at Jones and Laughlin Steel Mill for over 35 years.  After David attended Masonry Bricklaying School, he opened his own business entitled 'Askew & Sons'.  Everyone from all over the Aliquippa and surrounding areas highly respected his quality of work, integrity and high character.  David was an Auxiliary policeman in Aliquippa and a Bus Driver for the Aliquippa School District for many years. He was a proud member of the St. Marks Masonic Lodge of Aliquippa.

David and his wife served as foster parents to more than 100 children for over 13 years.  David cared for and loved each child dearly as his own. David was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and grandparent who had many friends. He provided an enormous wealth of wisdom and told life stories that will never be forgotten by his loved ones.  His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those who will cherish David's memories are his devoted wife of 65 years: Deborah Askew; his loving children: Amelia Askew Fisher, Arno "Chad" Askew (Robin); grandchildren: Shanell Henry, David London Askew III (Diana), Chad Askew, Audric Fisher, Audrey Fisher Brown (David), Allyce Fisher Spears (Rhett), Asia Askew, Excellence Askew, Cydney Calvin and a host of nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, extended family and friends.

David was preceded in death by his children: David Askew, Jr., Abron Askew, Vanessa Askew Walter and Christopher Askew; his brothers: Plato Askew, Jerome Askew and Benny Askew.

He is physically gone but his spirit will live with his family forever.
