Derrick Lamont Rowry, 53, of Erie, PA, passed away on Monday, February 3, 2020. He was born on September 10, 1966 in Clarksdale, MS to Jearlean Jells Rowry Parker and the late Jimmy Lee Rowry.

Derrick attended Academy High School and went on to enlist in the United States Marine Corps. While in the Marines he became a Lance Corporal and served in the Persian Gulf War (Desert Storm). He received the Good Conduct Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. After being honorably discharged from the Marines he worked for RM Kerner.

He was an avid sports fan who loved spending time with his family and enjoyed playing cards.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Othor and Annie B. Jells.

Besides his mother, he leaves to cherish his memory, two daughters, Shaderia Rowry and Erica Davis; three sons, Derrick Jr., Deonte, and Khalil Rowry; one step daughter, Shayla Gamble; one sister, Sharlada Rowry; four brothers, Antonio (Melissa), Nolan (Marcella), Kendall (Tina), and Frederick (Dorothy) Rowry; eight grandchildren, Latayja Pulliam, Jamaya Hollingsworth, Deaira and Iyana Husband, Derrick Rowry, Derrick and Deara Warren, and Heaven Rowry; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Friends may visit with the family at Family Worship Center, 1201 Parade Street, on Saturday, February 15, 2020, from 10am to 12pm, where a service will immediately follow with Elder Deshawn Garmon eulogizing. Interment will be at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. Professional services are entrusted to Pitts Funeral Home, 2926 Pine Avenue, Erie, PA 16504.
