Dorothy Penamon Harden Byrd 4850 Zuck Rd, passed away Sunday, February 28 ^th 2021 at UPMC Hamot.  She was born October 4, 1929, in Oxford, Mississippi, daughter of the late Carl and Minnie Ola Walls Penamon.

She was a resident of Erie for the last 75 years, moving here with her family at a young age.  She was a graduate of Academy High and played a stand up bass in the Orchestra.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Byrd; sons Charles Jones; Larry and Kenny Harden; sisters Margret Hamilton-Brown; Jean Covington; and Carolyn Faison. Nieces Deanna Faison; Stacey Penamon;  Margie Stewart; and a dear friend Ersila "Bebe" Thomas.

She was employed 27 years Erie Resistor, 6 years Erie Ceramic Arts, and retired from General Electric after 15 years of service.  She accepted the Lord at a young age and was a lifelong member of Shiloh Baptist Church where she was an usher, served in the daycare, and participated in vacation bible school during the summer.  Following in her mother's footsteps, she was a member of the Eastern Star and a past member Ozeil Temple number 317.

All that knew her found her to be a very warm and loving person.  She loved listening to music and if you wanted to get her head bobbing and her feet tapping all you had to do was play Tom Browne's "Funkin' for Jamaica" or Marvin Gaye's "Got to Give it Up".  She also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, watching Family Feud, and most of all spending time with her family.

"Peter" (Aundra) Hill of Arizona, a lifelong friend Mrs. Argola Thompson of Erie, Pa. and of course her 2 remaining boys Robert "Sib" Johnson (Patty) and Gregory "Bishop" Myers (Nell).
