Deacon Eugene Hamilton, age 89 passed on to glory December 20, 2021 at Nightingale Nursing & Rehab Center. He was born November 21, 1932 in Houston, Mississippi to the late Willie Lester Hamilton & Ida Mae (Atkinson) Hamilton. He relocated to Erie at the young age of 18.

Eugene retired from Erie Metropolitan Transit Authority (EMTA) in 1995.  He was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church for many years where he served on the Trustee board, sang in the Gospel and Male Chorus. He later served the Second Baptist Church where he became a dedicated Deacon, sang in the Mass and Male Choir. He was strong member of the Erie Harmonizers Group, and loved to go see different singing groups that performed in town. Eugene was a member of the Barney-Smith Post 700 of the American Legion, and Siebenbuerger Club. He enjoyed singing, bowling, and was an avid Cleveland Browns fan. He loved his family and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers Odis and William A. Hamilton and four sisters Evangelist Zula Harris, Oclene Harrison, Leslie Johnson and Lula Bell Hamilton.   He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Virgia Ann Hamilton, two sons Bobby Hamilton (Carol) Charlotte, NC, Michael Hamilton of Erie, Pa,  Three daughters Linda Allen, Brenda (George) Davis, and Shirley Windham all of Erie, Pa, four stepchildren Marlon (Kimberly) Henderson, Ft, Washington,  MD,  Tiffany Henderson, Waldorf, MD, Min. Rhonda (Min. Andre)Lyons and Shane Henderson (Taneshia) both of Erie, Pa; 22 grandchildren; 26 great- grandchildren: two sisters Minister. Williestean McClure(Pastor Floyd R. McClure); and Betty Patterson both of Erie, Pa: one brother Willie Hamilton Jr (Bertine) of Cincinnati, OH: two uncles, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins,  and in-laws. One goddaughter Mozella Hunter.

Family and friends may visit with the family on Monday December 27 ^th from 10am until time of service at 12noon. At the Second Baptist Church 757 East 26 ^th Street, Erie Pa 16504 With Pastor Lamont Higginbottom Sr. officiating, and Pastor Floyd McClure eulogizing. Interment will follow at Erie County Memorial Gardens. Arrangements been entrusted to Pitts Funeral Home and Crematory.
