Evangelist Evelyn McWhorter, 77, of Midland, PA went to her heavenly home on March 3, 2023. She was born on April 9, 1945, in Andersonville, GA to the late Fred McWhorter Sr. and Helen Barlow, who departed in June 2019.

Evelyn graduated in 1964 from Midland Lincoln Jr.-Sr. High School where she was a member of the marching band. She was a trumpet player, which she thought she put the "T" in the word trumpet. Evelyn attended St. Francis Hospital Nursing Program, where she became a State Board Licensed Practical Nurse in 1966.

Evelyn was a long-time active member of the Church of the Living God C.W.F.F until her health declined, but her presence was never ending. She served as a founding member of the gospel church group, Originettes. Evelyn also served in several church ministries, as a Superintendent of Sunday School, Chairlady of the Kitchen Committee, a member of the United Kitchen Committee, and was willing to serve wherever needed. The highlight of her ministry was when she was ordained as an Evangelist of her domination, Church of the Living God, C.W.F.F. in 1995. She furthered her religious training at the Harty Bible School.

Evelyn was community oriented and very passionate in helping others, often forgetting herself. Upon receiving her LPN license, she worked at Rochester Medical Center and retired from Beaver Valley Medical Center. Evelyn furthered her passion after retirement continuing to help others at Allencrest Juvenile Detention Center, Heart to Heart, and Salvation Army, where she served in many capacities. Evelyn was a champion in her passion for others, embracing "If I could help somebody as I travel along this way, then my living shall not be in vain".

To cherish her memories, she leaves her two sons, James Darnell McWhorter, Atlanta, GA and Sean Anthony McWhorter; two granddaughters Kaiyah Yazmir McWhorter and Breonna Savannah Lashay Roberts, Orlando, FL; two sisters, Bette J. (Rev. Stephen D., deceased) Sullivan, Sr. Cleveland, OH and Kimberly A. Barlow; four brothers, Fred (Doris, deceased) McWhorter Jr.York, PA, Eddie L. (Barbara) Barlow Jr., Oscar Barlow, and Donald K. Barlow, Baton Rouge, LA; caring aunt, Beatrice Hill, and a host of relatives and friends.
