Georganna Fields King

Georganna, affectionately known as "JuJu", was born on February 24, 1920, in York Run, PA, and departed this life on July 2, 2022, at the age of 102. She was in good health until recent months and was still of sound mind. She was the 10 ^th of 13 children born to the late Charles and Rosa Carter Fields. Her 12 siblings that preceded her in death were Lillian Fields, Mabel Fields Lipscomb, Eliza Fields Wingfield, Charles Fields, Fred Fields, Rosetta Fields White, Esther Fields Abbott, Daniel Fields, Reginald Fields, Emily Fields Williams, Jacob Fields, and David Fields.

Educated in the Fairchance Public School System, JuJu graduated from Georges Township High School . She fell in love and married her soul mate, Dr. Oliver King. They were married for 46 years until his passing in 1988. From their union, six children were born. God welcomed two of her children into his presence, Dr. Spencer King and Georgetta Jackson, who preceded her in death.

JuJu was a talented seamstress and a "stay-at-home" mom, which meant she held many positions from a cook, nurse, accountant, chauffeur, teacher, counselor, friend, and more.  She was the matriarch and the heart of the family. She would constantly remind us "to never let your prayin knees get lazy".

JuJu accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age and was baptized at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Fairchance, PA. After moving to Aliquippa in 1952, she joined Greater Emmanuel AME Zion Church and was an active member for the last 70 years. At Greater Emmanuel, she served as the church treasurer for many years. She also truly enjoyed being an usher. It was not surprising to see her ushering people to their seats when she was well into her nineties. Besides being a member of the Usher Board and the Usher Union, she was a member of The Moderns Club and The Women's Achievement Club.

JuJu enjoyed traveling and going on cruises.  She and her daughter Rosalyn "Midgie" looked forward to the annual "Three Generation-Girls Getaway" trips coordinated by her granddaughter Sheila. JuJu's favorite pastime was playing Scrabble. She was very competitive and would often play into the wee hours with Midgie. She also loved the sweet sound of country music.

JuJu's kindness, wisdom, and charisma made her well-loved and respected by all. We know that July 2, 2022, was a great day in heaven when JuJu reunited with her husband and the rest of her family that had gone on to glory before her. We find comfort in knowing that she has gone to dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

JuJu leaves to cherish her memory: her daughter Rosalyn "Midgie" King; sons Oliver King (Mildred), Melvin King (Karen), and Dr. Wesley King (Lisa); daughter-in-law Cathy King; grandchildren Sheila White, Lisa King-Washington, Tori King (Paul), Darria King, Melvin King (LaTasha), Gregory Johnson (Chavonne), Oliver "Aaron" King, Lavar King (Karisa), Amber Vincent (Mark), Timothy Jackson (Shaterra), Ashley Respress (Dr. Jonathan), Wesley King, II, and Sean King; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and a host of other relatives and friends.
