Gloria A. "Sister" Sims, 74, passed away Friday, March 8, 2024. She was born August 7, 1949, in Rochester, Pennsylvania, to the late Allen Johnson Sims Sr. and Hannah Lee Cheek-Sims.

Gloria loved music and was our beloved songstress. When Gloria was in her 20's, the late Sis. Dorothy Rickman took Gloria under her wing and encouraged and coached Gloria in a local singing contest where she won first place.   Gloria was raised in Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, Aliquippa, PA, and was baptized as a child. She sang in the Jr. and Sr. Choirs and a Church Ensemble. In the late 1970s, Gloria moved to Youngstown, Ohio, where she became a member of Mt. Calvary Pentecostal Church; through her bible teaching there, she chose to be baptized again, "In the name of Jesus."  She was never afraid to profess her love of the Lord.

Gloria graduated from Aliquippa High School in 1968. She attended the Community College of Beaver County and Robert Morris College. She worked many years for Gimbles Department Store in Pittsburgh and at the Beaver Valley Mall, where she was Manager of the Men's Department. When she moved to Youngstown, she worked as a Certified Nurse's Assistant. Gloria returned home to Aliquippa and was the main caregiver of her mom during her last years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her oldest sister, Evelyn Sims-Wallace, and nephews, David and Norman Wallace.

Those remaining to cherish memories of her are her siblings, Lillian Joyce (Charles) Harris, Allen J. Sims Jr., Debra J. Sims, Javerta L. Sims, James A. (Gwendolyn) Sims, and Karen F. Sims. Gloria did not have children but was blessed to have many nephews and nieces, Frederick Wallace Jr., Kevin Wallace, Kimberly Wallace, Corey Wallace, Brian Wallace, Sheila Wallace-Perkins, Donovan Wallace, Elena Wallace-Berger, Eric Wallace, Darien Harris I, George Crute III, Damien Crute, Robert Crute I, James Sims II, Jahanna Sims, Briana Sims and Jessica Sims; and many great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

We miss you, sweet "Sister," and we look forward to the day we can witness you singing in God's Heavenly Choir!
