Havana Odessa Rollins, age 98 of Erie, PA made her transition to her heavenly home on May 28, 2022 in Douglasville, GA. Havana had been residing with her daughter and her daughter's family.

Havana Rollins was born March 11, 1924, in Majestic, Alabama and was the daughter of Royal Akins, Sr. and Minnie Lee Hooks Akins. Havana was a resident of Erie for over 65 years until she left to live with her daughter in Douglasville, GA due to health issues.

Havana was employed with the State of Pennsylvania working at the Erie County Assistance Office. She retired in 1986 after over 30 years of dedicated service.

Havana enjoyed cooking, sewing, playing cards and dancing. She was an active member of St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church serving for over 50 years. She was a member of the Steward Board, Trustee Board, and Usher Board, and an active member of the Lay Organization.

Havana was a graduate of Wilberforce University. While at Wilberforce she became a member of Delta Sigma Sorority, Incorporated, Beta Chapter.  She is a charter member of the Erie Alumae Chapter, where she served as Recording Secretary, and co-chair of the Reading is Fundamental Committee.

Havana was loving and caring member of her community, quick to help anyone in need.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William P. Rollins, three brothers, Nehemiah, Emory, and Royal Jr. Akins, an infant brother, and her sister Meredith Wainwright.

To cherish her memory she leaves her son, Eric (Diana) Rollins of Erie; her daughter Karen (Donald) Middlebrooks of Douglasville, Georgia; two grandsons, Marcus (Tyra) Middlebrooks of Valdosta, Georgia; Jared Middlebrooks of Douglasville, Georgia; two great –granddaughter, Safiya Middlebrooks and Aniya Florence. There are many nieces, nephews, church family, and friends who share her memory.

The Celebration of life will be held Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church, 236 E. 11 ^th Street, Erie, Pennsylvania with visitation from 11:00 am until 1: 00 pm. The Celebration of Life service will begin at 1:00 pm. The Reverend Madonna Gray, Pastor of St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church will be the Eulogist. Interment will be at the Erie Cemetery.
