Inez Curry Mendenhall, age 69, went to be with the Lord three weeks before her 70th birthday, on Friday August 13, 2021 at Saint Vincent Hospital.

She was born on September 4, 1951 in Bashi, AL, eldest daughter of the late Elder Charles L. Curry and Dicie Grayson Curry Folks.

She was a resident of Erie for 59 years and attended Strong Vincent High School. She was previously employed by Heflund and Johnson Controls. In 2016 she retired from General Electric.

She enjoyed reading the newspaper, playing bingo, crossword puzzles, watching Westerns and CSI, and spoiling her grands absolutely rotten. She had a dry sense of humor, a generous spirit, and was a praying woman deeply rooted in her faith who loved her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, JD and Inez Richardson Curry (for whom she was named) and Earl and Adline Evans Grayson; a sister, Barbara E. Curry Ross; and two brothers, Edgar L. Curry and Ronald L. Curry Sr.

She is survived by one son, Charles Eugene Mendenhall of North East PA; three daughters, Sharla Jean Inez Logan of Radcliff KY, Shanitha Raye Eniola (Wasiu) of Cheektowaga NY, and Shamyra Lyn Gonzalez (Luis) of Erie PA; two sisters, Marion Curry Morgan-Gayle (Elman) and Lydia Curry Evans (Ernest) of Millcreek PA; a special brother, Rev. Clarence E. Hall of Mobile AL; three aunts, Jean E. Curry-Brown of Dayton OH, Velma Ephraim of Chicago IL, and Stella Copeland of Jacksonville FL; twelve grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two godchildren, Damarion Morgan and Saniyah Ruiz; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is also survived by her close friends Pamela Wilder and Russ and Lori McGranor.

Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, August 21, 2021 beginning at 10a at Morning Star Baptist Church, 327 E 23rd St. The homegoing celebration will immediately follow at 12 noon. Burial will be at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
