Inez Mitchell, 95, of Erie, PA, transitioned from this earthly realm to her heavenly home on Sunday, October 13, 2024. She was born on September 15, 1929 to the late Merdick Mitchell and Carrie Holt. Inez who was affectionately known as "Nezzie" was truly a gem and will be missed by so many.

Inez was a believer in the gospel and was never afraid to tell you about her God. Although not an official member, Inez frequently visited Friendship Missionary Baptist Church.

Inez worked at The Erie Center for The Blind for over 30 years. She enjoyed cooking, dancing and spending time with her family. She loved the game of bowling and was a devoted bowler for over 60 years.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by 2 sisters Juanita Shields (Red), Merle Page (Bootsie), and 3 brothers, twins Jerome and Herbert Mitchell and Merdick Mitchell (Linda).

Inez leaves to cherish in her memory, one daughter Sandra Heidelberg; 2 grandchildren Lafacia Heidelberg and Daria Wells (Durfey); 9 great grandchildren, Lakara Heidelberg Shamont Simmons,  Mauryce Williams,  Amarae Williams, Syriauna Wells-Brown, Zariah Wells, Mariah Wells, Durfey Z Wells and Damarion Wells; 3 great-great grandchildren, Kenley Heidelberg, Sevyn Simmons and Maliah Williams; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved her dearly.  Special thanks to her friend and caretaker Mary Brown and Vivian Tate. Also the family would like to acknowledge Lakeland Hospice staff for their incredible dedication to Inez.

Friends may visit with the family at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 1719 Cascade Street, Erie, PA on Monday, October 21, 2024 from 10;00 A.M to 12:00 P.M where a homegoing service will follow immediately with Pastor Durfey R. Wells Jr. eulogizing. Interment will be at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery. Professional Services has been entrusted to Pitts Funeral Home, 2926 Pine Ave, Erie Pa 16504.
