Mrs. Irma Gore - Mitchell departed this earthly life on Friday, June 24, 2022, peacefully in her home surrounded by her family after a lengthy illness. She was born in Laurel, Mississippi on March 01, 1933, the daughter of the late Rufus and Lillar Smith – Gore, Sr.

Irma and the Gore family relocated to Erie where she met her late husband Robert Mitchell, Sr. they moved to Chicago, IL, and she lived there for a number of years after the death of her husband she moved back to Erie in 1974.

Irma retired from Hamot Hospital to pursue her passion of Bingo and family. She loved to travel and you always had to call to make sure she was in town. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and she loved her church family.

Irma was the last of the Mohicans, besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Robert Mitchell, Sr.: five brothers – Jesse, George, Luther, Joseph ad Rufus Gore, Jr.; one sister Sarah Gore-Jordan; one sister-n-law Eunice Byrd; and cousin Climmie Gore.

She leaves to cherish her memories – one son Robert Mitchell, Jr.; daughter –in-law Carlida M. Mitchell; nine grandchildren – Irma R. Mitchell of Texas, Robert F. Mitchell III, Lida M. Mitchell both of Erie, Maalik X. Mitchell of Erie, Tyesha Tanksley-Mitchell , Lamesha Tanksley-Mitchell, Lewanda Tanksley, Tamika Tanksley, and Keon Tanksley all of Omaha, Nebraska; four great-grandchildren – Trevon Cole of Dubuque, Rolisha Mitchell of Erie, Jayceon Mitchell of Erie, and Journi Billups of Omaha; two great great- grandchildren – Kris and Kingston Cole of Dubuque and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may visit with the family at Shiloh Baptist Church, 901 E. 5 ^th St, on Saturday, July 02, 2022, from 10 am to 12 pm, where a home going celebration will immediately follow, with Rev. Anthony Harris eulogizing. Interment will be at Erie Cemetery. Professional services are entrusted to Pitts Funeral Home, 2926 Pine Ave, Erie, PA 16504. Everyone must wear a mask!
