Jacquelyn L. Smith, 84 of Aliquippa Pennsylvania peacefully passed away on Friday July 19, 2024 after a sudden decline in health.

Known affectionately as Jackie, she was born on June 30, 1940 to the late Javernia Holman of Aliquippa Pa.  She was a 1958 graduate of Aliquippa High School, and graduate of Ellis Beauty School and the Institute of Computer Management in Pittsburgh Pa.

Jackie worked as a reservationist for Allegheny Airlines (American Airlines) and held secretarial positions at J & L Steel (LTV Steel), and in the Beaver County Controllers office. Jackie retired as a payroll clerk for Beaver County.  She was a long-standing member of the Women's Achievement Club of Aliquippa and the Quippian Club Ladies Auxiliary.

Jackie was a faithful member of Ebenezer A.M.E. Church, where she served as a Steward, assisting the Pastor, providing prayer and encouragement to the members of the church, and serving as a role model of excellence in being about our Father's business.  She also served as a member of the Stewardess Board, Senior Usher Board, Hattie B. Hanks Missionary Society, and Class Leader.  Jackie had a love for music and acting.  She directed and sang in Ebenezer's Youth, Gospel, and Senior Choirs, the annual Easter Cantata, and performed in many plays to benefit the Women's Achievement Club Scholarship Fund.

Jackie was proceeded in death by her mother, Javernia Holman, and Aunts Oprah (George) Henderson and Avalon Owens.  She spent the last seven months of her life residing in Charlotte North Carolina, surrounded by her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Jackie is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 64 years, Eugene "Salt" Smith Jr.  She also leaves her children: Charmaine (Terrence) Norville, Deborah (Derrick) Cook, and Carlton (Renee) Smith.  Grandchildren: Xavier and Myles Smith, Isaiah and Noah (Genesis) Norville, Phoenix and Quincy Cook, Dynasti Curenton, and LaToya Rice.  Great-Grandchildren: Shakur, Spirit, and Soul Norville, Jayden Curenton, Tamari Gordon, and Aamir Rice.  Godchildren: Santiago Rosario, Annisa (Willie) Simmons, Lucious, and Brian Curenton.  In-Laws: Harvey (Marian) Smith, Rutha Smith, Merylyn Smith, Daisy Smith, JoAnn Smith, and Willie Scott Sr.  Cousins George Henderson Jr., Wilfred Henderson, Elliott Williams, Robert "Cokomoe" Hinshaw, Karen Carver Dudley, Beverly Williamson, Lauris (Dezell) Robinson, and Rob (Dana) Hinshaw.

Jackie also leaves behind a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbors.  Among those near and dear to her heart were:

Jannette Robinson, Donna Adams, Annice Lay, Ann Parham, Annette Hubbard, Stephanie Anderson, Loretta Jeter, Iris Curenton, Amy Lay, the Wilker Street extended family, the Ebenezer A.M.E. Church family and members of The Good Time Steelers Club.

The wake for Jackie Smith will be held Friday, 6pm-8pm at Ebenezer A.M.E. Church, 1015 Davis Street Aliquippa.  Wear your favorite Aliquippa Quips shirt or any Red & Black attire to honor one of Quip's Favorite Fans!

The Homegoing celebration will be Saturday, 11am at Ebenezer A.M.E. Church, 1015 Davis Street.  Intermittent will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
