Jeffery Earl Burns, 60, of Erie, Pennsylvania transitioned on January 5, 2024, at
UPMC Hamot Hospital. Jeffery was born in Erie, PA on September 5, 1963, to
Mildred V. Burns and the late James H. Gates.

Jeffery graduated from East High School in 1982. After graduating, Jeffery
joined the U.S. Navy where he received an Honorary Discharge.
Jeffery was employed at Accuride Wheels for 27 years.

Jeffery was preceded in death by his father James H. Gates, step mother Georgia
Mae Gates, and his paternal grandfather Charley Burns, maternal Grandmother
Leona (Nanny) McGowan and step grandfather Rev. Willie McGowan.

Jeffery is survived by his wife Sandra and their 3 daughters Jasmine L. (Houston,
Texas), Jade L. and JaLeah J. (Erie, PA). One grandson Ezrael A. His mother
Mildred V. Burns. His Mother In-Law to Minister Ruth Tate. Eight sisters
Annette , Leona, April (Henry), Shawna Burns, Stephnie Franklin (Gerald),
Mamie Spearman and Ramona Tate (Erie, PA), Felicia Gates (Chicago, Illinois).
Two brothers, Gordon Burns , and James Gates, Jr. (Erie, PA) and many nieces
and nephews.

Friends are invited to share with his family on Friday January 12, 2024 at Second
Baptist Church 757 East 26 th Street, Erie, PA 16504. Viewing from 10 am until 12
noon when the Celebration of Life will begin. Interment at the Erie Cemetery
where he will have a Full Military Ceremony. Eulogist will be Rev. Kenneth. K. Jones
