Jerry L. Lay, 67, of Aliquippa, PA, departed this life to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at Heritage Valley Beaver following a lengthy illness. Jerry was born on November 21, 1953 to Ondell Lay of Atlanta, Georgia and the late Viola (Lay) Bullock.

After returning from the military, Jerry worked at J&L Steel and most recently worked for Bluewater Cleaning Service of Monaca, PA. Jerry was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who loved fishing, dogs, and walks in the woods. He also mentored many young people and was affectionately known as "Huggy" or "Uncle Jerry" by many.

Jerry was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Viola and Jessie Bullock; mother-in-law, Mary Morris; and stepgrandson, Curtis Flowers.

He leaves to cherish a wife, Serita Lay; five children: DaJuan Lay, Viola (Rie) Lay, Jearmika Lay, Chris Ingram, and Roxanne Farr of Memphis, Tennessee; one stepson, Eric Johnson-Witcher of Philadelphia, PA, two stepdaughters: Meoshe Morris and Shantel Mckenzie; two sisters, Gloria Emerson and Theresa Lay; and one brother and sister-in-law, Jessie L. and Theresa Bullock. He was a grandfather to five granddaughters and five grandsons, and stepgrandfather to four stepgranddaughters and five stepgrandsons. He leaves to mourn a close cousin, Herman Marchman, Jr.; his best friends and fishing buddies: Earl Tucker, Vincent Curenton, and Brent Weekly; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
