Jethro David McCoy Jr departed this life on Friday, January 17th, 2026, at the H. John Heinz VA Medical Center, Aspinwall, PA; Jethro was born January 20, 1942, the only son of the late Jethro and Mary Louise McCoy, in Aliquippa, PA.

Affectionately known in the community as "Bay", "Bay Jetro" or to his nieces and nephews he was the original "Uncle Batman Bay", he was a faithful member of The Church in the Round, serving as a trustee and a deacon; he served his country in the United Stated Marine Corp from 1963-1967, where he was a Semper Fi – one who was always faithful, he was known as "Machine Gun Mac". He proudly escorted fallen soldiers home. When he returned home he was employed at U.S. Steel, The Crazy Quilt, Hussey Copper, Gateway and Lee More Home Care Services.

Bay was born and raised in Aliquippa and bled "red and black", he was the first African American quarterback for the "Quips" in 1958, wearing the #51; he was one of the fathers and pillars of the Aliquippa community, he coached the Aliquippa twerps and termites, was a President of the Aliquippa Quarterback Club, an avid follower and supporter of the youth football and a founding member of the Homeboys Foundation. He was part of the annual summer Homeboys Football Camp. He gave his time on the field and sidelines, mentoring and encouraging young people and helping raise funds for the camps. He always reminded the youth with a testimonial quote: "I am somebody – I am a champion."

Bay lived a full life, growing up he not only played football, he was a wrestler and boxer as a teen, coming from a close-knit family, he loved being with them and enjoyed time together laughing, talking, on the phone, playing backgammon and UNO or just being in the kitchen with his mama "Weeze" hanging over her shoulder as she prepared his favorite dish, Gumbo. He loved to dress and knew he was "sharp" when he stepped out on the town.

The pride and joy of his life was his daughter Ayanna, whom he absolutely adored; she was devoted to him and he to her; she was by his side throughout life events and was by his side when the Lord quietly and peacefully transitioned him from this life to a life everlasting.

Preceded in death his parents, Jethro D. McCoy Sr. and Mary Louise McCoy, uncles Edgar and Robert "Bobby" Nash, aunts, Dorothy Coleman and Margaret Priest.

He leaves to cherish his memories his loving daughters Wanda Jackson, Bellview, PA and Ayanna McCoy, Pittsburgh, PA, two sisters Marilyn (Marlon) Cobb, Pittsburgh, PA and Amanda Stokes, Hopewell Twp., PA, nephews and niece, Dr. Sylvester "Trey" (Margo) Carlo III, Atlanta, GA; Tawon (Edward) Turner, Bowie, MD; Idris "Macco" (Laila), Pittsburgh, grandsons, Brian (Carime) Wilson, Monaca, PA and Brion Wilson, Aliquippa, PA, 6 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. great nieces and nephews that his love had no ending, close and devoted friends Rev. Ezra "Monty" Lowe and Jay Fields, along with many close cousins and friends who were more like family; Bay loved people and people loved him.

Thanks to two special ladies he grew fond of at the VA Long Term Care, Kelly Na "Mimi 2" and Maryann Shimko "grandma", thanks also to the H. J. Heinz Hospice Unit.
