Jimal Lavar"Mel" Moore, 48, of Erie, PA, transitioned from this life unexpectedly, January 5, 2026. Jimal was born October 19, 1977 to his beloved parents, Betty Thornton-Simmons and the late Larry Moore, Sr.; stepfather, Artis Simmons, Jr.

In addition to his father, Jimal was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Ruthie Mae Nicholson-Jones; paternal grandmother Niomi Moore-Muldrow, and his brother, Darnell Moore.

Jimal was a proud graduate of Central High School, Class of 1997. He went on to attend Pittsburgh Technical Institute where he discovered a love for graphic design and video production. After his time in school, Jimal dedicated himself to becoming an entrepreneur. He had a determination to achieve that was unmatched. He did not believed in the word "no".

Jimal also loved working with his hands; creativity was the core of his personality. He savored the enjoyment he gained through transforming cars and home improvement projects. Jimal was known for his passion for life, his ability to find humor in every situation and his generous heart. He lived by the phase "Love is Love". Jimal's larger than life spirit will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Jimal leaves to cherish his memory; three brothers, Larry Moore, Jr., Artis Simmons III, and Davis Simmons; stepsister, Shante Simmons; and eight children: Niomi Ayala( Asan McKinzie, Naiari Pacley) Yamauri Moore(Harmony Moore) Mia Moore, Imani Moore, Naloni Moore, Jimal Moore, Jr., Darnell Moore and Darionna Moore. There are also many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Jimal's legacy will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

Friends may visit with the family at Mt. Zion Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 204 E. 24th St, Erie, PA 16503, on Friday, January 23, 2026, from 10 am to 12 pm, where a celebration of life will immediately follow. Interment will be at Erie Cemetery. Professional services are entrusted to Pitts Funeral Home, 2926 Pine Ave, Erie, PA 16503.
