Jimmie C. "Jimbo" Newell, Sr., 94, of Erie, PA, peacefully entered eternal rest with the Lord on October 11, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Born December 30, 1930, in Bay Springs, MS, he was the son of the late Walter and Gestoria Newell (Gavin). A faithful member and Deacon of Mt. Ebal Missionary Baptist Church, he was known for his kindness, style, and steadfast faith.

He is survived by his wife, Josephine Newell; children, Talese Turner (Jerome) and Valgean Martin (Royal Darnell) of Canton, OH, Jacqueline Sims Barros (Richard), of Fort Wayne, IN, Belinda Newell-Mosley (Robert Kelly) and Sharon Newell, both of Erie, PA, Jimmie Newell, Jr. (Marlo) of Powder Springs, GA, and his grandson, Jordan Newell, of Erie, who was like a son to him. He is also survived by step-son, LaValle "Val" Jenkins of Iraq, step-daughter, Brenda Christmon (Duane) of Charlotte, NC, and siblings, Elihue Newell (Lori), now 98 and of Detroit, MI, and Betty G. Bonner (Thomas Henry "TH", Sr.), now 92 and of Marietta, GA. Jimmie leaves a legacy of 10 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Gestoria Newell, his sister, Geneva Milan, his sisters-in-law, Lillie Mae "Tillie" Newell, Mary L. Harrison-Ulmer and Essmarie Ulmer-Morris, his brothers-in-law, Thomas Henry Bonner, Sr., Rev. Cleveland and Walter "Newt" Ulmer and close cousin, Burnest "Puddin'"Sims.

A retired machine technician with Lord Corporation after many decades, former Civil Defense Officer and business owner, Jimmie was a friend, mentor and father figure to so many. He will be deeply missed.
