Joanne Evelyn Curlett, 86 of Erie, PA passed away Monday, June 15, 2026. She was born on April 10, 1940, she is preceded in death by her parents Joseph B. Curlett and Hazel K. (Young) Shelton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her youngest daughter Dara Ife Curlett, her eldest sister Kathleen Joyce Woodard and her brother Joseph K. Curlett and (1) grandson, Darnell A. Curlett, (1) great grandson Javonnie D. Curlett and (2) great granddaughters Tay Dior White and Ja'Kyra Curlett.

Joanne was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. She served on the Food Pantry and the Senior/Mass Choir, Mary and Martha, VBS and Sunday school teacher and regularly attend bible studies and Sunday School.

She retired from Edinboro University over 20 years ago.  She enjoyed crocheting, bingo, bowling and the casinos. She loved her family and spent time with all of us.

She leaves to cherish her memory, four daughters Debra Evans, Philadelphia, PA (Joseph), Laurie Curlett, Jacksonville, FL, Kimberly Curlett and Leonna Lyons (Brian); of Erie, PA three sons Darryl Curlett, Charleston, SC (Florence – Flo) James Curlett, Erie, PA and Phillip Curlett, Charleston, SC (Andrea). Two sisters, Sharon E. Curlett, Cary, NC and Eileen Curlett-Carter, Erie, PA; twenty-six grandchildren, forty-eight great-great grandchildren, and six great-great-great-grandchildren. Nieces, cousins, brother-in law, and friends.

Viewing will be held at Shiloh Baptist Church on June 20, 2026, at 11:00 am. Celebration of her Life will begin promptly at 1:00 pm.  Pastor Anthony Harris eulogizing.  Interment will be at Lakeside Cemetery.
