John C. McCoy, Sr. was born February 3, 1939 in Blakely, Georgia to the late Needa and Willie Joel McCoy. He graduated from Washington High School and was a star basketball player.  After high school he continued his education and received a certificate in Brick Masonry.  He worked many years in the steel mill for J & L, LTV Steel & J & L Structural.  John married the love of his life Mattie Burden on March 19, 1966. He was a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Willie Louise, brothers:Louis, Roosevelt, Ruben and Leroy McCoy ; a grandson Darin Lavell Perry, Jr. and special cousin Eugene Smith Jr.

To cherish his memory, he leaves his loving wife Mattie McCoy, son John McCoy (Carmen), two daughters Dana (Darin) Perry and Carla McCoy, bonus daughter Patrice Perry; Grandchildren Chantel, DaNai, Danyia, Dajon, Jassir, Alexus, Javonye, J'Nai; Great- Grandchildren Vernon , Charrish, Khalil, Anthony, Kobe, and Kamoni; siblings - brother Alex McCoy; three sisters, Lillie George, Vinella Cody, and Gracie Worlds; Sisters in law Wanda McCoy, Mattie McCoy, Audrey (Richard) Lindsey, & Cleo Burden; a special niece Sandra (Bruce) Moore; special cousinsRuby, Harvey, Rutha, Merylyn, and Margaret; Special friends Weston Brown , Ralph Hollis, Leotis Hubbard , Fred Smith, Freddie Unis, Harry Haboush, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Viewing will take place Saturday , January 10, 2026 10:00am-12:00pm at Sound The Alarm Ministries 1 Shekinah Way Aliquippa, PA  15001.

With the home going service starting promptly at 12:00 pm.
