John W Spears, 88 of Ambridge, Pa. went home to be with the Lord on July 7, 2022 surrounded by his family.

Born in Lisbon, Alabama, the second of five children, to the late Vinnie Rainey and Josh Spears.

John served his country in The United States Army and was a veteran of The Korean War.  He was a faithful and dedicated member of Triumph Church where he served as a Sunday School Teacher for many years and was the oldest living male member of the founding church.

John retired from Conrail Railroad after 40 years of service as a Conductor.  He enjoyed gardening, he loved writing and was an avid reader who enjoyed studying and teaching Gods' word.  John enjoyed his family and was always there to guide and help his children and grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son David Spears; daughter Evonn Spears; grandson Brandon Everett; sister Lily Mae Williams; brother Fred Russell; brother in laws, Frank Walker and Marvin Anderson.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 41 years Nora Spears; son John W. Spears Jr.; daughters, Barbara Basnight (Vince) Aliquippa Pa., Yvonne Rice Ambridge Pa., Marilyn Williams Hopewell Pa., Renee Williams Ambridge Pa.; son William Walker Maricopa, Arizona; two sisters, Mary Flenory of New Kensington, Pa., Vinnie Crowell of Mobile Alabama; Sister in laws, Sallie Walker and Hattie Anderson of Aliquippa Pa.  He leaves to cherish his memory 15 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren as well as a host of nieces and nephews and friends.

Special thanks to grandson Matthew Lee and son in law Vincent Basnight for the special care that they provided to John.

Family and friends will be received on Saturday, July 16, 2022 from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm with service immediately following at Triumph Church, 1293 Mt. Nebo Road, Pittsburgh, Pa
