Johnny Will Josey, Sr (Bro)

Johnny Will Josey, Sr. (Bro) was born June 16, 1938, in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, to the late Claude Josey and Bessie Josey (Lee).  He transitioned to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 25, 2022.

Johnny, Sr. was a 1958 graduate of Aliquippa High School. He was a life-long musician, having played the Saxophone in the high school band, and ran cross-country track and field.

After high school he married his childhood Sweetheart (Minnie Josey) and served in the United States Army, where he was stationed in Fort Riley, Kansas.

He was a member of St. Mark Lodge #2 – Free & Accepted Ancient Dork Masons – National Compact – Prince Hall Origin.

He worked for J&L Steel, Aliquippa Firefighter, and retired from US Airways. He was an active elder and mentor on the Franklin Center's Aliquippa Council of Men and Father's.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, Minnie Josey, a son, Johnny Josey, Jr. and a grandson, Daniel Josey, three sisters, Claudia Turner, Edith Gipson, and Annie Smith.

Johnny is survived by his three daughters: Lashell, Teresa and Jada of Aliquippa, PA; one son: Phillip (Alma) Josey of Maryland; two sisters: Ruth Bellamy, Charlotte, NC; Pricilla Josey, Aliquippa, PA; one sister-in-law: Helen Hudson-Rice, Maryland; two brother-in-law's, Lovelace (Alice) Fisher, Baden, PA; and Larry Smith, Charlotte, NC. 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and devoted friends.

Friends may visit with the family at Ebenezer A.M.E. Church (Dr. Brandon A.A.J. Davis), 1015 Davis St., Aliquippa, PA on Friday, October 7, 2022 from 11:00 to 12:00 Noon, immediately followed by the Home going Celebration, Pastor Laneer Fisher, Eulogizing.  Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery. Professional Services entrusted to Pitts Funeral Home, 920 Franklin Ave. Aliquippa, PA, Antonio Pitts, Funeral Director.
