Joy Lynn Richards, 70 of Erie, PA passed away on Wednesday October 12th, 2022.

She was born on March 3rd, 1952, in the Bronx, NY to the late Mary Dandridge and Albert J. Richards.

She was an active social worker and an inspiring congress woman. She was a frequent visitor to numerous churches in the Erie Community.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Kamal Z Blackwell.

She enjoyed traveling, cooking, shopping, visiting friends and family. Most of all spending time with her family.

She was an advocate for mental health, multiple sclerosis, and children with special needs.

She attended Gannon University and studied Paralegal. She loved to have fun and had an infectious smile and a great sense of humor.

She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters Claudine Hancock and Dousjoura Griffin. Five sons Albert Richards, Alfonso Davis, Keith Blackwell, Daniel Richards, and Samuel Richards. One brother John (Melia) Wood. Ten grandchildren, one great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
