Julia Mae Bean Thomas

March 25, 1938 – December 26, 2024

Julia Mae Bean Thomas, 86, of Erie, PA, entered eternal rest on Thursday, December 26, 2024. Born on March 25, 1938, in Troy, AL, she was the daughter of the late Joe Tom and Ruby Pearl Hooten Bean.

Julia dedicated her life to the Lord and faithfully served at Greater Bethlehem Temple and later Greater Calvary Full Gospel Baptist Church, where she was part of the Sisterhood and Mother's Ministry. She worked over 38 years at Erisco Industries and enjoyed western films, Wheel of Fortune, and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Myron; great-grandson, Messyah; son-in-law, Emeka Ibemere Sr.; and brother, Mack Bean Sr.

Julia is survived by her daughter, Kathy Thomas Ibemere; grandchildren, Sherlanda (Scott) D'Antuono, Jason (Tinya), Shelina (Bernard) Simms, Myron (Alexandria), Dr. Jonathan, Martell, Trevonte (Mandy) Morman, Maurion Thomas, Riasha (Dwain) Hylton, Emeka Jr., and Fedelia Ibemere; great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Anyla, Myraya, Myshon, Rainah, Dwain Jr., Lilah, Elijah, and Evelyn; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A Homegoing Celebration will be held Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Greater Calvary Full Gospel Baptist Church, 2624 German Street, Erie, PA. Family and friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with services immediately following, officiated by Pastor Colin G. Gavin. Interment will be at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
