Larry Todd Barney, 61 of Erie, PA, transitioned from this life to the Holy shores of Heaven, on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at UMPC Hamot.  Larry was born October 2, 1959 in Erie Pa to the late Clarence "Jug" Barney and Laurestel Dunston Barney.

Larry graduated from Academy High School in 1979 where he was a star athlete in football, wrestling, and track.  Making All-City in Track and Football, on both offense and defense.  He was also city-champ in wrestling known for utilizing and perfecting the fireman carry move.  Larry attended Winston-Salem State University in North Carolina before returning back to Erie Pa. Larry was a professional painter employed at Braendel painting and services for over 30 years.  He was a charter member with the Sons of the American Legion, C Barney / W. Smith Memorial Post 700.  He was also a social member of Gem City Elks Lodge 328 and the close knit friends and family Libra Club.

Larry loved and accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior from a young age attending Holy Trinity Church of God in Christ.  Larry was a people person and truly enjoyed spending time with all his friends and family. He is known as the fun Uncle to all his nieces and nephews, always willing to share a joke or two and change his plans at a moment's notice.  To know him you had to love him, just ask the many people he served.  Larry was a die-hard Cleveland Browns fan and took great joy for any wins but especially those over the Pittsburgh Steelers!

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by three siblings, Clifton, Brenda, and Thomas Barney, who transitioned as infants; two brothers, Oliver "OB" Barney and Robert "BB" Barney; two nieces, Alexis M. Easterling and La'Che Barney; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Larry leaves to honor and cherish his memory five brothers, Clifton (Joyce), Dale (Marlene), Lee (Deaprina), Gregory (Leslie) Barney all of Erie, and Steve (Debbie) Barney of Atlanta, Ga.; five sisters, Ella Ree Hariston, Jacquelyn "Jackie" Collins, Darlene (James) Bean, Sonya (brother Mike) Anderson, all of Erie, and Tracey Barney-Tate of Atlanta, Ga.; three uncles, Henry (Diane) Dunston, Harden Moss, both of Erie and Steve Asby of Detroit, Mi.; two aunts, Lois Dunston-Cole and Irma Dunston of Erie; and many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. Special bond with his cousins, Daryl Dunston and Stephanie Bethea.

Friends may visit with the family at Christ Community Church, 923 East 6 ^th Street, on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, from 10 am to 12 pm, where a home going celebration will immediately follow, with Pastor Darrell Cook eulogizing. Interment will be private. Professional services are entrusted to Pitts Funeral Home, 2926 Pine Avenue, Erie, PA 16504. All CDC COVID-19 guidelines will be followed and everyone must wear a mask.
