Laverne (Blocker) Owensby of Dallas Texas, Born April 21, 1943, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025 at the age of 82. her obituary captures her devotion to family and friends describing her life through the lens of her "Five F's" Family, Friends, Flowers, Food and most of all FUN. Her personal touch makes her life relatable and memorable.

Laverne was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Owensby Sr., her parents Emma (Holmes) Blocker and Andrew Blocker Sr, her siblings , Sister Ethel Dee Blocker, Brothers, Benny Blocker, Annis and Andrew Blocker Jr (Junebug), Price Blocker, and Aunt Louise Campbell.

She was a member of Rice Chapel AME Church serving on the LAY Committee and Women's Missionary Society. A graduate of Aliquippa High School. She worked as a School Crossing Guard for the City of Aliquippa, A Certified Nurse Assitant for Suburban General Hospital, Bellevue Pa and Retired Certified Nurse Assistant from Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas. A strong Avid of Bingo, Casino and Card Games.

She leaves to cherish her memory, Three Son's Dwight Blocker, Dallas Tx. Terrance Blocker(Charlotte) Dallas Texas, and Henry Owensby (Nachele) Aliquippa Pa.  Two Daughter's Lashon Campbell (Alton) Fishers, Indiana and Leslie Owensby Dallas Texas. Niece and Nephew's, Regina Steals(Edward) Aliquippa Pa, Govia Jenkins, Dallas Texas, Aaron Blocker, Pittsburgh Pa, The Entire Barkley Family Aliquippa Pa and Passaic New Jersey. One Grandson Alton Campbell Jr. Fishers Indiana,  Eight Granddaughters, Mia and Leesa Blocker, Dallas Texas, Alexis Campbell, Fishers Indiana, ShaLaia Owensby-Smith and ShaKiya Jackson, Dallas Texas, LaToya King and Jonelle Baldwin  Aliquippa Pa, and Ashanti Owensby, Ambridge Pa. Two Great Grandson's Zaire Smith-Ellison, and Tylan Boyd, Dallas Texas.  Two Great Grandaughter's Milyn and Kamari Hayes Ambridge Pa,Three God Daughter's Eboni Dorsett and Lisa Lay Aliquippa Pa, and Latonya Tyson, Tacoma Washington, One God Son Michael Deadmon Dallas Texas.

A Celebration of Laverne's life will be held at 11:00 am Saturday November 1, 2025 at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Laneer Fisher officiating, Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetary Aliquippa Pa.
