Lenise Lois DeBoe, age 69, transitioned into eternal life on Friday, May 28, 2021 at AHN St. Vincent
surrounded by her loving family.

She was born to her beloved mother the late Lucille Gilmer on Monday, March 3, 1952 in Erie,
Pennsylvania. A lifelong resident of Erie, Lenise graduated from Academy High School class of 1971.

She was a faithful member of Second Baptist Church where she was active in the choir ministry and a
former choir director. Lenise had a passion for singing and became the organizer and seamstress for the
former gospel group, Heavenly Echoes in Erie, Pa.

In 1975, Lenise met the love of her life, Lewis DeBoe Jr., the two united in holy matrimony on June 7,
1980. Shortly after this union their family was formed. She had a wonderful sense of fashion and always
represented herself with class and dignity.

Lenise was employed as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Pleasant Ridge Manor-East for over twenty
years before her retirement. Her loving spirit and humorous personality truly touched all that she
encountered.

She was a wonderful homemaker; she took great pride in caring for her family and became
affectionately known as "Lady Time".

Lenise enjoyed daytime television, you would often hear her witty remarks while watching the Maury
Povich show. She truly enjoyed listening to blues and southern gospel music. Lenise was a virtuous
woman and encouraged her son and family to stay rooted in God's word and to never give up.

She was a great wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend that will be sorely missed by all of her
family and friends.

In addition to her mother, watching and waiting for her on the other side is her husband of 36 years,
Lewis "Candyman" DeBoe; brother, Pernell Gilmer, and several other heavenly angels.

She leaves to cherish her memory; one son, Dupree DeBoe, of Erie, Pa.; step-daughter, Jeanette White
(Robert) of Erie; sister, Barbara Luvine (George); brother, Arthur "Buster" Gilmer; three stepgrandchildren & three step great-grandchildren; sisters in law, Lonna Gilmer, Virginia "Sue" Hansbrew,
Ila "Mary" Carr (Richard) and Eleanor "Gale" DeBoe; a special niece, Ezelle McCallum and a host of
nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A heartfelt thank-you to her caregiver of nine years, LaShay Boyd.

The family would also like to extend their gratitude and appreciation to Dr. Eric Milie, Dr. Silvia Ferretti
and the entire LECOM staff for the wonderful medical care provided to Lenise throughout the years.
A public viewing will be held Friday, June 4, 2021 5:00pm – 8:00pm at Second Baptist Church 757 E. 26th
St., 16504. Her celebration of life will be Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 11:00am with Pastor Lamont
Higginbottom, eulogist. Interment will follow at Erie Cemetery.
