Leroy "Byrd" Lindsey, 74, peacefully passed away in his home on Saturday, January 28, 2023.

Leroy was born on January 2, 1949, in Union, South Carolina, to the late Ezell and Elizabeth Lindsey. "Byrd", as he was affectionately known, was a man of many talents and skills.  At one time in his life he was an avid fisherman and hunter.  Also, Leroy was an avid sports fan.  He was a quiet and studious man and was always ready to lend a helping hand to friends and family.  Leroy's brother Anthony "Tonk" Lindsey referred to him as the "Protector" of the family.

Leroy graduated from Aliquippa High School in 1969.  He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. shortly after graduating from high school, serving from 1969 until 1971.  Shortly after being Honorably Discharged from the Marine Corps. Leroy married the love of his life, his first wife, Jacqueline Hardy.  From that union a beautiful baby girl named Janina Nicole Lindsey was born.

After serving in the military, Leroy was employed by several reputable companies, finally settling on a career as a steel worker at J & L Steel Corporation, where he was employed for 30 plus years.

Unfortunately, Leroy's beloved daughter, Janina, passed away when she was a small child, due to a house fire.  Also, his beloved first wife, Jacqueline passed away on January 6, 2005.

In addition to his parents, Ezell and Elizabeth Lindsey, his first wife, Jacqueline (Hardy) Lindsey, his daughter, Janina Nicole Lindsey, Leroy was preceded in death by his sister, Veronica Lindsey, who passed away as a small child, his brother, Kelvin "Bone" Lindsey and also his Grandparents, several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and cousins, brothers-in-laws, other beloved in-laws, (step)daughter Crystal Taylor and several close friends.

Left to cherish his memory is Leroy's second wife, Sabrina Taylor, his (step)son Jeffrey Taylor, his (step)daughter, Yolanda Taylor, his grandchildren, Tristen Taylor, Asar Brooks and Addison Taylor-Oxendine, all residing in Aliquippa, PA.  Leroy's grandchildren lovingly referred to him as their Pa Pa, and he was the light of their young lives.  He was always there to patch-up the scratches and scrapes, fixing broken toys, taking them for rides in the truck, keeping them from getting punished when they were bad and teaching them the ways of life.

Also left to cherish his memory are siblings Richard Lindsey (Audrey) residing in Loxahatchee, FL; Mary Norman, Beatrice Perry, Anthony "Tonk" Lindsey (Sheila), and Jeffrey Lindsey (Robbi), all residing in Aliquippa, PA; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins, several God children and close friends.
