Lillian E. Gordon, 86, of Erie, PA. passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2025. She was born October 8, 1938 in Shubuta, MS to the late Frank Chapman, and Lou (Diggs) Chapman.

Lillian was a graduate of Quitman High School in Quitman, MS, in the class of 1957. Lillian moved to Erie in 1957 and married her husband Angelo the same year. Until the passing of her beloved husband Angelo in 2007 they had been married for 50-years. Lillian also became a member of Frist Good Samaritan A.M.E.  Zion Church where she attended services weekly until her illness wouldn't allow her to attend. Lillian loved God her entire life. Lillian loved her entire family her entire life as well.

Lillian served as Past Worthy Matron Orpha Chapter #21 Order of Eastern Star, Past Most Ancient Matron Sequoyah #39 Herione of Jericho, M.E.T. Carroll #62 Order of Golden Circle and Mother Advisor The Ruth Mitchell Tucker Girl Youth Department Conscious Orpah-ite #21. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with family that lived afar, loved fishing, listening to gospel music, touring with the gospel group (Back Road Travelers) that she managed.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her soulmate of 50-years her husband Angelo Lamar Gordon Sr. two sons, Michael Gordon at birth, Angelo Lamar Gordon Jr, granddaughter Baby Grace Gordon at birth, grandson Dedric Ray Gordon, brother, John Albert Chapman, Sister Helen Chapman Cooley, cousin Almeda Woodard whom was more like her big sister, and sister-in-law Ollie (Gordon) Johnson who Lillian considered a big sister.

She leaves to cherish her honorable memory: one son Billy-Ray Gordon, Erie, PA, one sister Lylie Jones of Shubuta, MS, two grand-daughters, Tawica Rae Nicholson, LaRicia Deriree Nicholson, both of Erie, Pa. Tawica, and LaRicia also cared for her during her illness, two grandsons, Angelo Lamar Gordon III, and Josh Boone, both of Erie, Lillian and her husband was instrumental in raising their grandchildren at some point of their lives. Lillian has 25-great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, and nephews, she also has a step son, Anthony Ward, of Buffalo, NY.

Friends may visit with the family on Monday, July 28, 2025, at the First Good Samaritan AME Zion Church, 3209 Pennsylvania Ave, from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm, where a celebration of life will follow. Interment will take place at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery. Professional services are entrusted to Pitts Funeral Home, 2926 Pine Ave, Erie, PA 16504.
