Minister of Music

Elder Melvin Eugene Raines

entered into his eternal rest surrounded by family on May 1, 2026.Born May 23,1966 in Aliquippa Pa, to the late John Lee Raines Sr. and Reverend DeEster Morman Raines. Melvin was a devoted Minister of music, who answered the call of God's gift at a young age to play the organ. With the mentorship of Dr. Curtis Lewis and Pastor Avril Vreen. His gift took him to many places, having musical workshops, directing choirs, writing and recording his music.Under the guidance of his mother, they recorded two albums. He is the founder of The Melvin Raines Singers. He decided to settle in Detroit Mi. for 25 years. To the Holy Cross Church and Mt Zion Baptist Church that he loved and others in the Detroit area. Melvin returned home in 2017 to play for his foundation, The Church in the Round First Church of God in Christ under his beloved Bishop Melvin Eugene Clark Sr. for whom he was named after. After his tenure with them, he went to Living Word Evangelistic Center in Pittsburgh, Pastor David Lee, who he called a friend.  Melvin offered guidance, comfort, and hope meeting people where they were and reminding them of their worth and that "Jesus Saves ".

To his family, Melvin was more than a minister, he was "baby boy" ,a beloved son, father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend,Melvin carried his role within the family with loyalty,care and love. His bond with his siblings is rooted with shared history, deep affection and enduring pride. He shared a profound connection with his twin brother Kelvin, and the two were known for their incredible harmony. There is so much to be said about Melvin,but he wanted to let you know, That he was SAVED,SANCTIFIED HOLY GHOST FILLED and FIRED BAPTIZED until we meet again !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Melvin leaves to celebrate his life , his son Philip Anthony Moye, 3 brothers James Morman (Candace) Holden Jerome Raines and his twin brother Kelvin Eugene Raines. 3 sisters Elder Cynthia Raines Hill, Mother Queen Ester Raines-Horton and Marcella Raines (Adrianna), a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces,nephews and great-great nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and special nephews who cared for him Brandon Brown Dante Marr- Raines Holden Raines Jr. DeRohn Brown, Darnese Raines, close friends Elder Doug Price and Michelle Hampton.
