Nona Renee Barnes, age 60, made her transition, on Saturday October 14, 2023 at Select Specialty Hospital. She was born in Erie, PA, on November 28, 1962, a daughter of Norma Jean (Bonnie) Williams-Martin and Albert "Jack" Sloan.

She was a loving mother, homemaker and had previously worked for many years at Community Resources for Independence as an Administrative Assistant. Nona had a huge heart, was one of the kindest people, and would do anything for anyone. Nona had charisma, and she certainly had the quality of being able to attract, charm, and influence those around her. Nona loved her family and was considered the "cool aunt" by all her nieces and nephews. She enjoyed spending time with loved ones, cooking, gardening, decorating. Nona had such a creative mind and an exceptional sense of fashion and style; she was the epitome of a classy woman. Nona will be missed by all who knew her.

Nona was preceded in death by her mother Norma Jean (Bonnie) Williams-Martin, father Albert Sloan, brother Michael (Shane) Curtis Williams Jr., her partner of 16 years James E. Crockett Sr., aunts Deborah Selby, Julia McGruder, and uncle Larry Martin.

Nona leaves to cherish her memory her sons Michael Steven Barnes Jr., Malcolm Niehmn Barnes Sr., and Miquel Goudy; her sisters Alice Ruth Williams, Charlene Williams, Lisa Lynette Williams, Khadija Wadee'Ah Horton, and Nadirah Jameelah Williams. She is further survived by her aunt Clara Whitaker, uncle Roger Martin (Delores), 11 grandchildren, one great grandchild, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
