Odell "OD" Cook, 86, of Erie, PA, passed away on Monday, September 13, 2021. He was born on September 25, 1933 in Melvin, AL to the late Ed and Virtue Williamson – Cook.

After graduating from High School he joined the United States Army where he was a welder and received the National Defense Service Medal and was honorably discharged.

Odell has been a member of the Erie community for over fifty years where he made a wonderful life for himself and his beloved family.

OD worked for General Electric for 27 years.

He was a member of Second Baptist Church, and The American Legion Post 700.

Anyone that knew him knew that he loved gambling. He enjoyed horse racing, casino, fishing, hunting, and sports car racing.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years Hazel Atkinson Cook; one brother Roy Cook (Bessie); two sisters Jennie B. Ranson (Herman), Mary D. Evans (Donald).

He leaves to cherish his memory, one son – James C. Goodwine of Las Vegas, NV, one daughter – Sharon M. Henderson; three grandchildren – Gregory, Rasheda and Alicia; eight great-grandchildren; a special thank you to his nephews Gregory Ranson and Randy Ranson and nieces Jennice Walker and Donna Jordan along with host of other relatives and friends.

Friends may visit with the family at Pitts Funeral Home, 2926 Pine Ave, on Saturday, September 18, 2021, from 10 am to 12 pm, where a home going celebration will immediately follow, with Rev. Lamont Higgenbottom eulogizing. Interment will be private. Professional services are entrusted to Pitts Funeral Home.
