Rita D. Singletary Obituary

Rita Delores Singletary, 88, departed this life into the presence of the Lord on May 4, 2024, in the Heritage Valley Beaver Medical Center Hospice Unit.

Born on January 9, 1936 to the late Catherine Alberta Bridges Coley & Julius Cobb in Aliquippa, PA where she remained a lifelong resident. As a faithful member of Greater Emmanuel AME Zion Church, she served as a deaconess and sang in the choir.

Upon graduating from Aliquippa High School, she graduated from business school but decided to pursue her life's vocation by obtaining her nursing degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). She worked at Sewickley Valley Hospital for 30 years primarily on the oncology unit until her retirement.

She was a woman of integrity, an excellent cook, loved to shop, talk with friends, do crossword puzzles, a faithful supporter, and an exceptionally loyal friend. She valued being taught the Word of God and searching the scriptures with her friends. She loved football especially the Quips and Steelers. She was a giver, wise, and very funny.

She was preceded in death by her mother, the late Catherine Alberta Bridges Coley, and stepfather Jake Coley; father, Julius Cobb; two sisters June "Linnie" Brewer & Anna Jean Bridges; three brothers: Hilton, Roosevelt & Eugene Cobb; two grandsons Isaiah Singletary & Travis Williams.

Leaving to cherish her memory are her husband of 56 years, Wilbert Singletary; three sons: Ernest (Tina) Williams, Gregory (Joyce) Williams & Brent (Elaine) Williams; daughter, Nicole Singletary and step-son Wilbert Singletary, Jr.; grandchildren: Tamica (Don) O'Connor, Trey (Katie) Singletary, Tiahna Singletary, Ebony (Claude) Davis, Kalen Suber & Selena Singletary; great grandchildren: Marvin Reed, Nico Williams, Jonathan O'Connor, Ayden Alfieri, Avery Singletary, Sasha & Savannah Williams, Sydney Davis; great-great grandson Jaxson Reed; nephew, Marlin (Cynthia) Bridges; step sister Erma Jackson; sister-n-laws Maureen Finch & Audrey Jackson; brother-n-law Willie Singletary, and daughter-n-law Vernette Singletary; closest friends Joyce Johnson, Shirley Bell, Mae Cuspard, Juanita Lyles, Cecil Fields, and a host of extended family and friends.
