Obituary of Ronnie B. (Ron) McQueen

May 29,1958 – June 4, 2026

Ronnie B. (Ron) McQueen, born May 29, 1958, slipped peacefully into the Savior's arms on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at his home. Born in Sharon, Pennsylvania to Claude McQueen and Ruby Viola Williams, Ron was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, family member, and friend.

Ron graduated from Academy High School in 1976 and later graduated from the University of Pittsburgh-Bradford in 1982 with a bachelor's degree in economics. He later received a master's degree in counseling from Gannon University.

His career journey embodied versatility and service. Most recently, he served as a guidance counselor at McKinley Elementary School in the Erie School District. He also worked in the Aging Department at GECAC and in financial services at Mellon Bank.

Ron was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan who also loved reading, especially non-fiction books. He enjoyed music as well, with an appreciation for funk and loved stand-up comedy.

A man of faith, Ron was deeply involved in the ministries of Greater Calvary Full Gospel Baptist Church. He sang in the choir, served in the Van Ministry, and was a dedicated member of the Trustee Ministry. Under Bishop Jesse N. Gavin, he was elevated and ordained a deacon.

For more than a decade, Ron served as chairman of the Deacon Ministry, exemplifying the love of Christ in the way he cared for and loved people. He was a constant source of encouragement and inspiration, often saying to anyone who provided him a helping hand "bless your ministry." His kindness, wisdom, and steady presence left a lasting impact on the church and the broader Erie community. Although he lived with multiple sclerosis, he rarely complained and continued to live a full and faithful life.

In addition to his parents, Claude McQueen and Ruby Viola Williams, Ron was preceded in death by his siblings, Claudette McQueen and Donald McQueen.

Ronnie B. McQueen leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 38 years, Shelia A. Conner McQueen, daughter, Brianna R. McQueen, grandchildren, Kalen R. McQueen and Kamille R. McQueen, all  of Erie, Pennsylvania;  sister, Yvonne Penn, and her husband, Pastor Russell Penn, of Hermitage, Pennsylvania; goddaughter, Courtney Stanton, of Columbus, Ohio; father-in- law, Richard Conner (Daisy), sisters-in-law, Pamela D. Edwards (Robert) of Hockessin, Delaware,  Melinda Conner of Memphis, Tennessee, and Gail F. Conner-Rockett of Erie, Pennsylvania; brothers-in-law, Russell Conner, Glen E. Conner of Erie, Pennsylvania, and Duane A. Conner (Annetta) of Columbia, South Carolina; niece, Brittney Penn, of Buford, Georgia; nephews, Justin McQueen (Michaela) of Dayton, Ohio, and David Jackson of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; lifelong friends from the East 17th Street neighborhood known as "The Cosmos"; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Calling hours are 11:00 am to 1:00 pm with a Celebration of Life at 1:00 pm, Thursday, June 11, 2026, at Greater Calvary Full Gospel Baptist Church, 2624 German Street, Erie, Pennsylvania.
