Rudenia Sansom, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2024, at the age of 77. She was born on August 11, 1946, in Heidelberg, Mississippi, to the late Raphus Hales and Katie M. Sanders Hales.

Rudenia resided in Erie, Pennsylvania, at the time of her passing. She married the late George Sansom Sr. and together they built a beautiful life filled with love and devotion. Rudenia was a dedicated mother to her children, Helene (Don) Keene, Veronica Michelle Sansom, George Sansom Jr., God Children: Raphus (Alicia) Sansom, Amesha Goodwine, Jason Arrington and the late Jeffrey Sansom. She was also a cherished grandmother to Shannon Sansom, Sean (Mauri) Tate, Shiara (Jerome) Pettis, Jarod Tracy, Tashae King, Aujhalon Sansom, and the late Quanesha Knight and George Sansom III. Her legacy lives on through her thirteen adored great-grandchildren.

Rudenia was a woman of many talents and passions. She found joy in playing the piano and sewing, using her talents to bring beauty and harmony into the lives of those around her. She was deeply involved in her community, dedicating her time to various organizations such as the Sunday School, Deaconess Board, Pastor's Aide Club, Young Matrons Missionary, Choir member, Children's Musician and Board of Christian Education.

Rudenia's faith was an integral part of her life. She believed that without God, she could do nothing, and she instilled this belief in her children and grandchildren. Her unwavering faith served as a guiding light, teaching them to live their lives with God at the forefront, knowing that He would never fail them.

Rudenia will be remembered as a kind and loving woman, always ready to lend a helping hand. She will be deeply missed by her surviving siblings, Estella (Melvan) Sansom, Larry D. Hales, Rev. Ray E. Hales, Rev. L. Richard (Savannah) Hales, Virgina (Major) Anderson, and Katie (Tim) Breland, as well as her many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by siblings: Elzenia (Jack) Dantzler, Lennie Cooley, Mildred Hales and Jack B. Hales.

Her life was a testament to love, faith, and devotion, and her memory will continue to inspire all those who knew her. May she rest in eternal peace.

Services will be at Morning Star Baptist Church, 327 East 23rd Street on April 13, 2024. Viewing 10:00 AM- 12:00 PM. Funeral at 12:00 PM.
