Sallie Ann Wardell Woodard, 80, of Erie, Pa went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 26, 2019. She was born on June 29, 1938, daughter of the late Louise Choice-Wardell and Johnny Maxwell.

Sallie was a member of Second Baptist Church, where she gave praise and sang in the choir for many years. She also sang in the local mixed Gospel Choir for many years with her friend and former Pastor, Bishop Jesse N. Gavin.

Sallie Ann enjoyed life, she loved spending time with her family and friends; cooking, shopping, talking and telling stories.  In Sallie's early years she especially enjoyed playing softball for the local team, "The Chosen Few" as the pitcher, on the field Sallie Ann was known as Wild Flower, she helped the team win 7 Championship games.

Sallie also took great pride in her work as a NCCP at Gannondale for over twenty years.   She loved working with the young ladies sharing her wisdom, a stern word when needed, and home cooked meals; as well as teaching them cooking skills.

She will be lovingly missed for her infectious smile and laugh, her passion for fashion. Sallie was known for her fancy hats and head wraps, and out spoken manner.  If you knew Sallie you knew she kept it REAL!

She is preceded in death by her husband Jack Woodard and her first husband Harry Yarbrough Sr.; two brothers, John Freddy Maxwell and Robert Bobby Maxwell; and a sister, Marsha Maxwell.

She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Tracy Wardell (Greg), and Shane Yarbrough (Quentin); three sons,  Michael Wardell, Harry Yarbrough Jr, and Terrance M Yarbrough; two sisters, Barbara Jean Parker and Cynthia Maxwell;  one brother, Michael Wardell;  Ten grandchildren, Tasha Wardell, Alease Ross, Damien Wardell, Ebony Wardell, Shayla Gamble, Mary Wardell, Shaderia Rowry, Tianna Winston, and Chad E Duck Jr.; Special friends, Edith Henderson and Rachel "Charly" De'loche; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Our family would like to thank Lizzy Williams for being a guardian angel to Sallie, during her ending journey, we appreciate and Love you.

Friends may visit with the family at Second Baptist Church, 757 E. 26 ^th Street, on Saturday, March 9, 2019, from 10 am to 12pm, where a home going celebration will immediately follow, with Reverend Lamont Higginbottom Sr. eulogizing. Interment will be at Lakeside Cemetery. Professional services are entrusted to Pitts Funeral Home, 2926 Pine Avenue, Erie, PA 16504.
