Sally Ruth Smart, age 96, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at LECOM Senior Living. She was born on December 9, 1929, in Greenville, Alabama, to the late Fred Jones and Sally Crenshaw.

Sally was a dedicated employee of Continental Rubber, where she worked for nearly 30 years until the company's closure. She enjoyed traveling and, most of all, cherished spending time with her family and loved ones.

In addition to her parents, Sally was preceded in death by her beloved husband of nearly 45 years, Eddie Smart; her beloved son, Timothy Williams; her four brothers, C. Hurston Jones, Eddie Jones, Robert Boggan, and Willie Boggan; and her sisters, Corinda Stone, Mildred Crowe, and Gladys Womack.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory her daughter, Karen Kirkland; her son, Paul Smart; her sister, Emma-Jean Harris; her five grandchildren, Celeste Kirkland, Elijah Smart, Hannah Smart, Ava Smart, and Ishmael Smart; and her four great-grandchildren, Anthony Diaz, Jayden Lomax, Jaylen Lomax, and Elijah Smart II. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends. She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.

Friends may visit with the family at Pitts Funeral Home, 2926 Pine Avenue, Erie, PA, on Saturday, September 5, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A Homegoing Celebration will immediately follow. Bishop Curtis Henderson will deliver the eulogy. Interment will take place at Erie Cemetery.
