Shirley Ann Jeter,88, of Aliquippa, PA, went home to be with the Lord on August 21, 2024, at Sewickley Hospital surround by her family.

She was born on August 18, 1936 in Aliquippa to the late Amos and Jessie (Chaney) Gilbert. She was a life time member of Bethel Baptist Church.

She was a graduate of Aliquippa Sr. High School, where she later became a teachers' aid for the Aliquippa school System.

Shirley was known for the love she had for her four sons- Ivan (Teddy), Thomas (Snooky), Roderick (Hoppy), and Sheldon (Spunky).

She was actively involved in all aspects of school, sports, and life.  A respected voice in her community, Lady SJ was also known for stepping out in style with signature well-manicured nails, as well as her famous home cooked meals; enjoyed by many who were welcomed in her home.

Affectionately called "Nana" by her grandchildren, she was the proud grandmother of twenty-two grands and twenty-six great grands.

Shirley is survived by her two sons – Ivan and Sheldon Jeter; one sister – Rosecilla Walker; special friends – Louise West, Louise "Sapp" Johnson, Anna Mae Brown, Anna Faye Gossett and the entire Lowe family, a host of grands, great grands, nieces, nephews, cousins, a community if family and loved ones in South Carolina, and a special acknowledgment to the Jeter family (in laws).

In addition to her parents Shirley was proceeded in death by her two sons - Thomas and Roderick Jeter, three brothers – William, Charlie, and Perry Gilbert; five sisters – Louise Gilbert Ingram, Fannie Gilbert Smith, Mary Lawrence Gilbert Summer, Jessie Belle Gilbert Walker, and Imogene Gilbert Taylor, and devoted friend Wilma Steward.

Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, September 03, 2024. From 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm, at the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 410 Wykes St. Aliquippa, PA. Followed by a celebration of life on Wednesday, September 04, 2024 at noon. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery.
