Sidney "Sonny" Crosby, Sr., 76, passed away Monday January 11th 2021, at UPMC Hamot Medical Center. He was born in Gilbertown, Alabama on September 22, 1944; son of the late Gaston and Lucille Howard - Crosby.

Sonny was a member of the Second Baptist Church and he was a resident of Erie for over 60 years. He Graduated from Melvin High School in Melvin, Alabama. He retired from Conrail Railroad Company after many years. He owned and operated Sonny's Market for many years, where he brought joy to the kids in the neighborhood. Sonny enjoyed his family, playing cards, betting on the horse races, and playing Domino's with his siblings was a family Ritual.

Besides his parents he was processed in death by his wife Cathy Crosby; a son Sonny Hatfield; four brothers - Earnest Lee Crosby, Leslie Crosby, John Crosby Sr., Robert Crosby Sr.; four sisters - Chanie Larkins, Emma Williamson, Mary Howard and Janie Barnett.; one grandchild; and one great grandchild.

Sonny leaves to cherish his memory four sons - Eugene (Skye) Crosby of Nicholasville, Kentucky, Minister Sidney Crosby Jr., Of Killeen, Texas, Jason Hatfield of Ashtabula, Ohio & Jeff of Boston, Massachusetts. four Daughters -  Dr. Shelby Crosby of Memphis, Tennessee, Devonne (JC) Johnson & Paula Slupski of Erie, PA.,  Jennifer Zula of Ithaca, New York; two sisters - Verna Mae Beard & Lillie (John Sr.) Hopkins of Erie, PA.; campion Chestine Corder of Erie, PA; ten grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; one God son Jimmy Wright; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives & friends.

Friends may visit with the family at Second Baptist Church, 757 E. 26 ^th Street, on Saturday, January 16, 2021, from 10 am to 12 pm, where a home going celebration will immediately follow, with Rev. Lamont Higginbottom eulogizing. Interment will be at Lakeside Cemetery. Professional services are entrusted to Pitts Funeral Home, 2926 Pine Avenue, Erie, PA 16504. All CDC COVID-19 guidelines will be followed and everyone must wear a mask.
