Van Lavell Norman Sr. age sixty-six went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday May 5 ^th , 2021. Born September 6 ^th , 1954 in Aliquippa, Pa he was the son of the late Emma Jean Gates and the late Ralph Norman. He graduated from the Aliquippa High School, attended Edinboro College for two year and the Hardy Bible School.

He was a member of The Father's House church in Rochester and was a God-loving, God-fearing, Bible preaching, gospel teaching true man of God. He heavily involved in his community by way of sports, church, political and volunteer work. He was employed at J & L Steel for nine years then went to work as the Personal Coordinator for the mayor of Sewickley Heights at that time Furman South III for years. He later became a direct support professional for a number of agencies. Until he found his home at the Rochester Getgo, where he could be found for countless hours interacting with customers, sharing the gospel, and witnessing for Christ. He also worked as a poll worker for the last five years bringing joy, laughs and smiles to all who came through the doors to cast their ballots. He retired in September of 2019, but always kept busy working side jobs.

Van married the love of his life and wife of forty-five years Michelle Ann Norman on September 9 ^th , 1978 and had three son Van L. II, Preston James and Samuel David Norman, and also one grandson Jayden Lavell Norman. His joy in life was preaching the unadulterated gospel of Jesus and sharing the love and message of God with everyone he met. This could be seen through his many years teaching at vacation bible school, Sunday school, singing in the choir and praise team, servicing as a trustee, usher, minister, and church custodian at the churches he attended over the years. He had a unique gift from God for handyman work and fixing things. It brought him great happiness to help people and love on any and everyone with the love of God. He could regularly be found coaching youth sports, attending NAACP association events, volunteering in the concession stands for sports games and anywhere he could be of service.

Minster Norman had a profound and deep love for the word of God and preaching and teaching that word wherever and whenever he could to whoever he was able to. He loved his family with all of himself and it was evident through how he lived his life. His wife, sons, grandson and siblings were the core of his being, but God was the captain of his soul. He loved to be in the presence of God and in the midst of praise and worship. He was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Emma Jean Norman. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife Michelle Ann Norman, three sons Van L. Norman II, Preston James Norman, Samuel David Norman, a grandson Jayden Lavell Norman, one brother Ralph Larry Norman, three sisters Jewell (Enmon) Whatley, Nadine Anderson, Patricia Norman, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and beloved family members and friends.
