Vivian Dawson-Hamer, 63, of Erie, PA, passed away on Friday, July 7, 2023.  She was born on July 8, 1959 in Canton, MS to the late Earlene Dawson Griffin-McGee.

She worked at Erie Insurance for 41 years until retiring in 2022.  Vivian enjoyed traveling, dancing, gardening, crafting, reading mystery novels, and spending time with family and friends. She was also an avid Cleveland Browns fan.

In addition to her mother, she is preceded in death by grandparents Percy and Olivia Dawson, her aunts, Mary Nell Dawson Allen, Mildred Dawson Hamblin and uncles, Johnnie Dawson, Larry Dawson, Sr. and Earl Dawson, Sr.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 17 years, Lionel Hamer, her four children, Asia Dawson, Alisha Dawson, Andre Dawson and Alex Dawson; her step-children, Lionel Hamer, Jr. and Shareece Hamer; two sisters, Carolyn Elaine (Hector) Osorio Velasquez, Michelle Griffin; four grandchildren, Marquise Darnell, Alia Dawson, LeAuja Hamer and Skylar Johnson; one uncle, Percy Dawson, Jr.; and two aunts, Donna Jones and Alice Jones; one god-son, Corey Womack; and her best friend of 49 years, Clarice Womack. She is also survived by a nephew, several nieces and a host of close friends.

Friends may visit with the family at Second Baptist Church, 757 East 26th St, Erie, PA on July 15, 2023 at 10am – 12pm for viewing and celebration of life to follow at noon. Interment will take place at Lakeside Cemetery. Professional services are entrusted to Pitts Funeral Home, 2926 Pine Ave, Erie, PA 16504.
