Wayne Oliver Woods (Hoss) was born on September 1, 1928 to the late Andrew Woods, Sr. and Sadie Jane Woods.  God knows all things and said Sunday morning, April 14, 2024 "IT IS WELL" and closed his eyes and he went home to be with his Lord and Savior.

Wayne was preceded in death by his wife, Bibbiliion Lee McClellan Woods, his son Robin and grandson Wayne, Jr. "Buggie", brother Andrew Jr, sisters Mary J Laird and Sadie Crumb

Wayne, AKA Woody, Hoss and Smooth, was the patriarch of the Woods Family, brother, father, uncle, grandfather and friend.  He resided in Aliquippa most of his life and attended Aliquippa High School where he excelled in basketball.  He was also on the track team and did the high jump where he jumped as high as 6 feet.  Wayne loved sports, he was an avid Quip, Laker and Cowboy fan.   He loved life and live life to the fullest and would help everyone he could.  Wayne was a chauffeur for his grandchildren and his sisters when they could no longer drive.  Wayne never got a beeper or cell phone, but he did have an answering machine to get his messages to see what he had to do the for the day.  He would check the machine faithfully and would answer to the call.  That kept him going and was still doing that up until he was 93.  In January of 2022, we called the answering machine – no answer and went to his home to find him unconscious.

Wayne worked at Jones & Laughlin Steel Mill, later known as LTV, for over 30 years.  Wayne extended help and advice to a lot of people, so we were told.  In 2023, Eugene "Salt" Smith came to visit him to thank him because he helped him get into politics.  Wayne was so happy to see "Salt" that day, it was special.

He loved spending time with family, his special time with his sisters.  They would go shopping together and celebrate each other's birthday, getting them Kentucky Fried Chicken and enjoying each other's company.  He was close with Older Brother Andrew and his sons Bobbie and Marvin, they were also close.  They were about family, taking care of each other, loving on each other and kept the family close.  Wayne loved his brother Ronald, a bond that could never be broken, that was one of his first job.  His father had him walk Ronald to school every day and pick him up because he wanted to fight every day (lol); this is straight from them, GET TO KNOW your uncle he's funny.  Wayne loved when different ones would come to visit.  His nephews, Bishop coming to see about him or calling; Orville the same.  Audrey, his niece, ready and willing to do whatever she could.  Jeff come to see him, he would be looking for a cake to follow that visit- he loved you.  His grandson, Dr. Phillip Woods "AKA Kyus" thank you for all you did with keeping him groomed, taking him to his appointments and his outings, helping to see about him and taking him to the hospital;  Nicole can't thank you enough on how you stepped up each and every day, never complaining taking care of your granddad;  Thank you Kristen for seeing that down time was needed and you were there volunteering without saying anything, and any and everyone that stepped up to help.  Thank you Mattie, Anniya, Che'mya, Tina and Lyric; Ruebin for stepping up when you could, putting your life on hold to see about Dad and being there, taking him to Cleveland so that he was able to see his other children and  grandchildren as well;  Mahogany and Malachi for stepping up when needed.   Thanks to everyone that helped and volunteered to see what they could do to help.   Malik and Samatha, granddad appreciated you when you would bring MJ over and he brighten his world.  All hands on deck care taking is something you can't explain you got to be in it all to appreciate it.  We wouldn't change it for the world being with Dad until the end.

Wayne loved going to see the Little Quips, all the way to High School games.  He would faithfully pick the grandchildren up and then would stay for every game sometimes.  Then Jr High and then High School he got a senior pass he started with Kyus, Anthony, and Wayne, and years down the road Malik and Chief.  He was able to see some on the college level for Kyus and Malik; he treated the cheerleaders the same, taking them to practice when Mahogany started playing sports and he was on the road again loving it.   Granddad enjoyed spending time with Demetri, Mayka, Makahi, Lexus, Liberty, and Legacy whenever they came to visit.

Wayne (Hoss) leaves to cherish his memory his loving daughters Denise Bell, devoted caretaker that loved her dad to life, JoLorraine Woods, and loving daughter Mattie Woods; his sons Wayne T Woods, Sr. and Ruebin Woods, Daughter in Law Sandra Woods, 15 grandchildren Nicole Woods, Kristen and Kristina Johnson, Denise Bell, Korreshia Woods, Kalia Anthony, Alexis Woods, Alesha McKenizie, Tinita Fields; grandsons Timothy Woods, Anthony McKenzie, Everette Bell, Anthony Woods, and  Dr. Phillip Woods; 23 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren;  devoted and loving brother Ronald Woods; devoted nephews Apostle Alphonso Wesley (Henrietta), Bishop Kenneth Crumb, Sr. (Jeniece), Deacon Orville (Chronicle) Crumb, Richard (Debra) Bryant, Jack (Manala) Bryant; devoted nieces Audrey Woods (Jeff),and Dorothy Woods; great loving friends Caroline Jackson and Eugene Salt Smith & family; Maureen Redd and the Goodtime Steeler Club; Daisy Smith and family.  There are some families I would like to acknowledge that was a part of Wayne's life Bazemore, Tabb, Gist, Josey, Askew, Henry (Sterling), McKenzie, Brown John McCoy, Wanda Chavis, Shegog, Sims, Morris, Green, Greer, Gill, Horton, and my Sister in Love Loretta (Sis), Eric Carlise and Reed; thank you all so much.

Thank you Adam from Concordia, you were the best nurse Wayne could have had, he looked forward to your visits.  Thank you Tuck with Care for everything you did to help me in every way.
