Yvonne "Vonnie" Morris-Horton was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and wife during her incredible 86 years of life. She passed away peacefully on October 5, 2023.

Vonnie was born in Rochester, PA, on July 24, 1937. She graduated from Aliquippa High School in 1955 and attended Duff's Business School in Pittsburgh, PA. She met her husband, George Horton Sr., and they became one of the first black entrepreneurs in the Beaver Valley area.

They owned three companies: Vonnie's I, Vonnie's II, and Horton's Rubbish and Disposal. She worked for Westinghouse and Monumental Life Insurance. She retired from Rochester Public Schools at the age of 80.  She was a member of Ebenezer AME Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Horton Sr., grandparents Lonnie and Hattie Morris, Everett and Cora Lipscomb, parents John and Geraldine Morris, sisters Joanne Curenton and June Morris, and brother Claude "Peanut" Gilliam.

She leaves behind a legacy of two children: George Horton Sr. and Antoine "Marty" (Verlenee) Horton. Grandchildren: Shavon (Sharif) Foster, Antoine II, Londun, and Britny Horton. Great-grandchildren: Promise, Xaviere, Isaiah, Jordan, Tiana, Taylor, Elijah, Jaxxon, Piper, and Riley.  Brothers: John Wayne Morris and Gregory (Brenda) Morris. Sisters: Vickie Gilliam and JoLorraine Woods. An adopted brother: Prince Parker Sr. Close friends: Donna Hubbard, Juanita Ward, Mary "May-T" May, Adelia Brown, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and
church family that loved her.

The viewing will be held on Wednesday, October 11th, 2023 from 5p-8pm. The homegoing service will be held Thursday, October 12th, 2023 at 11am. Each will take place at Ebenezer AME Church.
